Anti-Roll Bars
Links two wheel indices and resists the difference in their suspension travel across an axle.
Anti-roll bars reduce body roll but do not replace correct springs, damping, center of mass or tyre setup.
Syntax#
vehicle.add_anti_roll_bar(left_wheel, right_wheel, stiffness=1000)| Argument | Rule |
|---|---|
| left_wheel / right_wheel | Existing, distinct, non-negative wheel indices. |
| stiffness | Finite and non-negative; default 1000. |
car.add_anti_roll_bar(0, 1, 1000); // front axle
car.add_anti_roll_bar(2, 3, 800); // rear axleTuning guidance#
- Add bars after all wheels and before build().
- Increase stiffness gradually while watching inside-wheel load and contact.
- Excessive stiffness can reduce independent suspension compliance and traction on uneven ground.
- Different front/rear values influence understeer and oversteer balance.
Verified operation contracts#
These contracts distinguish units, return values, errors and lifetime according to the current implementation. Check results: false, 0 and undefined can mean different things for different methods.
