Debug
Characters
Draws CharacterVirtual capsules, support state, contacts, movement, and reference frames.
JOLT_DEBUG_CHARACTERS reads live managed JoltCharacter accessors after the physics update. It is separate from JOLT_DEBUG_SHAPES because CharacterVirtual is not a rigid Body.
Enable characters#
jolt_debug_enable(true);
jolt_debug_set(JOLT_DEBUG_CHARACTERS, true);
jolt_debug_set(JOLT_DEBUG_SENSORS, true);Capsule and ground#
- The capsule uses get_current_height(), radius, feet position, and the current up vector.
- A blue line shows up from the feet beyond the capsule top.
- When not in air, a yellow cross and line show ground position and normal.
- Steep ground overrides the capsule colour with pink.
Collision-mode colours#
| Mode | Capsule colour |
|---|---|
| JOLT_CHARACTER_IGNORE | Blue |
| JOLT_CHARACTER_BLOCK | Green |
| JOLT_CHARACTER_PUSH | Orange |
| Ground state OnSteep | Pink override |
Movement and contacts#
- A cyan segment from the capsule centre shows get_world_move_velocity() scaled by 0.25.
- Body contacts draw small red markers; sensor contacts are pink and require SENSORS.
- Character-pair contacts draw a red marker and their normal.
- Removed contact events are skipped.
Reference frame#
When set_reference_frame() is active, a purple segment connects the character to the frame body and marks its origin. Additional segments show frame linear velocity in pink-purple and angular velocity in yellow.
